Sports in New York

Active visitors will revel in The Chelsea Piers, an exciting new complex that opened recently at 23rd Street. Highlights include Manhattan's only outdoor golf driving range, the largest gymnastics facility in the state, the largest rock-climbing wall in the Northeast and the world's longest indoor running track, plus a huge fitness center, ice rink, marina, two restaurants, and a 1.5 mile public esplanade.

New York's spectator sports line-up includes basketball with the championship-caliber New York Knicks, hockey with the 1994 Stanley Cup champion New York Rangers, baseball with the New York Mets and New York Yankees, and football at New Jersey's Meadowlands Arena with the New York Giants. Visitors can also enjoy thoroughbred horse racing at Aqueduct and Belmont racetracks, as well as the New York City Marathon each fall and the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament at the National Tennis Stadium in Flushing, Queens, in late summer.
